5 Minute Service

The 5 minutes after sunset is the saddest interval of time for me.  Perhaps sad isn't quite the right word--but it is the time of day when the setting of the sun reminds me of my own mortality--for even the blinding light of the sun fades into the horizon with muted pastel colors that only a few hours before were white hot.  I bear witness to the death of another day and silently attend the service that nature arranges with near perfection.

The funeral is a symphony of  sensual experience:  gentle breezes, colors, delicate sounds, woodsy and earthy smells.   I sit silently as the watery reflection of a cloud streaked with blues and magentas delivers a eulogy.
